“Saturday the 23rd of August kicked off with the second of the Spur School Series at Curro. We were greeted with dubious grey skies and a light drizzle, enough for the race organisers to close of the infamous drop off. Uplands was represented by both the prep and the college, of which 21 riders were from the college and it was great to see Uplanders as young as Daniel Rae doing the track! Although the weather proved to make the track more challenging, everyone was willing to ride and the results achieved showed our mettle.
Andreas ‘Dietse’ Kuhn displayed an exciting race which ended in a very tight sprint finish; the result was so close, in fact, that Dietse tied first with his closest rival – Liam De Clerk. A similar situation occurred with Ryan Clarke in the sprint for second place; Ryan successfully managed to win this position by half a tire. Another outstanding display of fitness was shown by Ryan Terry who won his race by four minutes.
The results were as follows:
- Junior Female – Tyneale Terry 2nd, Leigh Torre 3rd
- Junior Male – Ryan Clarke 2nd
- Youth Female – Tamryn Hawley 3rd
- Youth Male – Andreas Kuhn 1st
- Sub- Junior Female – Kyla Hamer 2nd
- Sub-Junior Male – Ryan Terry 1st
