Siblings are red-hot on the hockey pitch

Scorgie brothers Airin and Ethan have been chosen to represent Mpumalanga Hockey at interprovincial tournaments in Bloemfontein and Durban later this year.

Scorgie brothers, Airin and Ethan, have made their school proud by being selected for the u/18A and u/14A Mpumalanga hockey teams respectively. The brothers attend Penryn College, where Airin is in grade 11 and Ethan in grade nine. The boys had to progress through three rounds of trials before the final teams were chosen last Sunday.

Although they have made provincial hockey teams before, this year is memorable because they attend the same high school and hope to play together in the same team in the near future.

“I have played for the first team at school for three years, but it would be so cool if Ethan and I could play for the Penryn College first team together next year,” Airin said.

“Actually, I just like team sports, especially if my friends are playing.” Airin agrees with his little brother but he likes winning with his teammates.
“I am quite competitive on field but I also like the sporting friendships made off the field,” Airin said.

The Scorgie brothers will be joined on their respective interprovincial tours by some of their schoolmates. Penryn College has no shortage of hockey talent with six other boys being chosen to represent Mpumalanga in tournaments taking place in Bloemfontein, Potchefstroom and Durban.
