Curro teams put up brave fight against rivals Penryn

Due to the previous first-team rugby fixture which Penryn won 98-0, the Curro coaches requested that their first team play Penryn’s second. Penryn agreed to this and hoped for a more competitive match.

In the u/14 match, Curro came out firing and with good backline play, they quickly put points on the board. The Penryn’s defence tackled bravely, but could not stop the multiple Curro attacks and Curro ran out as deserved winners with 57-7.

In the u/16 match Penryn were very determined to get their first league win of the season as Curro had beaten them previously 24-7. The match was very evenly contested for most of the first half. The teams continued to test one another’s defence, but Penryn proved more determined and scored before half time. In the second half the Penryn team were hungry for victory and scored another two tries to put Curro out of the match and won 19-5.

Then in the final match of the day it was the Penryn second XV up against the Curro first XV. The Curro players showed good commitment in the game. Due to some slack defence by Penryn, Curro managed to score two tries in the first half, but they could not contain the Penryn attacks and allowed Penryn to score six tries in the first half with a half-time score of 34-13 to Penryn. In the second half Penryn made several substitutions and Curro took advantage of these changes to score another try. Penryn concluded the game with one more try to win 43-24.
