An interschool archers competition and workshop organised by Willem Jacobs of Lowveld Archery Academy took place in White River recently.
Archers from all over Mpumanlanga got together on Saturday for their first competition of the year. A total of 64 archers competed and attended a workshop presented by a basic archery instructor trainer (BAIT). Each archer participated in four flights in 40-minute sessions.
Schools came as far as Witbank to compete. Local schools included Laeveld Akademie, Accelerator Academy White River and Gateway Christian School from Barberton.
Jacobs said that in comparison to the first competition the turnout was surprisingly high. The objective of the day was to get archers more involved by offering an opportunity to receive training from an expert.
