Heads up!

Over the years many of the Regiments that trained in Barberton before going ‘up North’ at the start of World WarII have visited Barberton as their way of remembering their members who served.

This year the Regimental Association members will be coming down in force, and they have invited us, the Lowveld Moths, to join them in Barberton this weekend.

Their parade falls in at 09H30 tomorrow morning. The SA Irish Regimental Association Pipes and Drums will lead the parade.

Moths are requested to wear MOTH attire, with medals and decorations.

The Department of Military Veterans is hosted a conference on the establishment of a National Umbrella Association in Gauteng last weekend.

This association will include veteran soldiers from both sides of the pre-1994 conflict.

”This association is expected to interact with government representing the interests of military veterans in their diversity,” says Department of Military Veterans spokesperson, Mbulelo Musi.

Former SADF pilot Arthur Piercy posted the following message on facebook :

”I am currently at the congress for Military veterans. What’s important so far is that in order for you to receive any benefits in the future you need to be represented by a veterans’ organisation. So I appeal to all military veterans to contact and join and register with your appropriate veteran organisations as soon as possible.

If you are not on a database somewhere with a legit veterans organisation you will loose out! There is already a free medical scheme in for vets to. “
