On the evening of September 26, while driving on the N4 from Nelspruit towards Ngodwana about 2 kilometres east of Elandshoek, I found myself with three occupants in the car in a life-and-death situation.

Two trucks driving east at high speed were overtaking several cars on a solid white line forcing me to swerve to the left of the yellow line to prevent a head-on collision.
The speed of the trucks was so high that my vehicle was shaking from the force of the wind as they passed me and continued driving as if nothing had happened.

I blame our minister of transport, Ms Elizabeth Peters for such behaviour of road users for not enforcing our road traffic laws by employing incompetent corrupt traffic officials who spend most of their working time generating funds for themselves and local government by focusing on none-critical traffic violations.
My last encounter with a traffic official was in Anderson Street, Nelspruit, where the lady tried to convince me that I did not stop at the stop sign and she could give me a fine of R 1000.

Her plea for a sponsored lunch fell on deaf ears and I drove off because I knew she had no foot to stand on. I choose to stay anonymous, as I might just get fined for raising this matter.
