A treat for local music lovers
An internationally acclaimed Russian pianist will be performing at Uplands College for one night only.
WHITE RIVER – Lovers of classical music will have the opportunity to hear an internationally acclaimed Russian pianist perform in the Lowveld.
Konstantin Soukhovetski was born in Moscow and started his music studies at age four. He entered the famous Moscow State Conservatoir when he was eleven. During those years as a child prodigy he played in the most prestigious halls in Europe and won many international piano competitions.
In 1999 he entered the Julliard School of Music in New York, USA to study piano with Jerome Lowenthal. He won the William Petscheck Award for best debut recital and New York Times’ headlines stated “Romanticism so intense, it warms Philip Glass”.
He has been honoured with many prestigious international awards, such as first prize in The Cleaveland Competition and the same in the Gina Bachauer Contest. He has played with many orchestras and top international conductors as a soloist. He enjoys a very active concert career which takes him to major cities around the globe.
The event will take place at Uplands College on February 25 at 19:30. The programme consists of Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in C-#minor Book 1, Glass – The Hours, Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata”, Liszt – La Vallee D’Obermann, Brahms’ Intermezzi, R Strauss – Soukhovetski “Four Last Songs” and Mozart’s Fantasia in D Minor.
Tickets cost R100 for adults and R50 for students.
