Young actress celebrates birthday with needy kids

Matlou told Steelburger/Lydenburg news her passion for sharing came a long way and this year she planned to improve the lives of the needy children of the orphanage centre.

BOTHASHOEK – In giving back to the local communities, Ms Shatadi Nocry Matlou, founder of the newly established lifestyle and entertainment magazine, The Bold, visited the Ebenezer orphanage centre to show her love for the disadvantaged children.

Matlou, who is an actress by profession, celebrated her 29th birthday on Tuesday June 24 with the kids. She donated blankets, pyjamas, gowns, sleeping sponges and groceries.

She originally hails from Namakgale in Phalaborwa but her family relocated to Tukakgomo in Steelpoort a while ago.

Matlou told Steelburger/Lydenburg news her passion for sharing came a long way and this year she planned to improve the lives of the needy children of the orphanage centre.

“When I leave this planet, I want to leave a mark that God had sent me to this world because he had a purpose with my life – to help others.

“Life goes beyond platting Brazilian weaves and flying to Portugal for a fancy get away. Sometimes it is imperative for one to take his or her time to do something that will contribute to social development,” she said.

Matlou added, “There are many orphans and less privileged people out there that need our love and comfort. Today I am because someone sacrificed a lot for me, so why not pass down the love to others,” she said.

She explained that giving back should not inevitably be translated as suggesting that one has millions of rands to give away, but should instead be viewed as a sign of showing love and appreciation.

“Just like most people, I sometimes run out of money to do other things that may be a priority at that point of time. Nonetheless, I promised myself that for as long as I life, I’ll always do my bit to help those in need and I’m not going to renege on that promise,” she said.

Matlou said she appreciated the unconditional love and support she constantly received from her mother, Ms Ennica Mmela, her selfless husband, who is known as Mr Hen D, and her helper at home Ms Reneilwa Magatla.

“My husband and I share the same passion – we are both committed to giving back to the community. When I first communicated my intention of donating some clothing to these kids, he absolutely supported the idea and even went to the extent to providing monetary assistance.

“I wouldn’t have done all this if it wasn’t for his support, former Miss Tubatse Maphefo Maruma and Ms Tilo Mokgopo for always being there for me,” she concluded.
