LYDENBURG – “Run or dye” was the theme for Lydenburg Hoërskool’s Colour Run on Tuesday.

Hundreds of participants, some dressed in white, showed up for this very popular event. Racegoers had the choice of either entering the 5-kilometre or 2,5-kilometre race. They could either run or walk.

Powder paint was available for purchase beforehand. The run was a feel-good, happy, and of course colourful event. Runners of all shapes and sizes merrily went from wearing pristine white clothing, to being covered in bright neon paint.

At each kilometre and water mark, a different colour of powder filled the air and covered the participants, creating a spectrum of colour and beauty. Stalls of food and drink made sure that all participants could eat and rehydrate after the race.

After the run, live entertainment was provided by Willem Botha. Botha is best known as the 2007 runner-up in kykNET’s Idols series.
