Car guards earn their security certificates
“Tubatse Crossing is greatly aligned to community support. We identified the need to empower our car guards and had them enrol at the Northern Province Training Academy, and today they are fully trained security officers, registered with PSIRA.”
BURGERSFORT – Tubatse Crossing remains the only regional shopping centre in the Sekhukhune district with over 90 stores offering retail categories such as fashion, beauty and cosmetics, homeware, furniture, groceries, restaurants and major banks, to mention but a few.
It definitely has something for everyone! The mall prides itself in remaining relevant to the catchment area through a great tenant mix, longer trading hours and excellent facilities, creating a good shopper experience as well as security.
To this end, the mall took 13 of its current car guards to school, to equip them with new sets of skills and sharpen their customer service, and in so doing empowering them.
The car guards were honoured with their Security Certificate in a mini graduation ceremony on June 24 at the mall.
Migael Botes, operations manager of Tubatse Crossing, emphasised the importance of community engagement,
creating prosperity and improving the quality of life.

“Tubatse Crossing is greatly aligned to community support. We identified the need to empower our car guards and had them enrol at the Northern Province Training Academy, and today they are fully trained
security officers, registered with PSIRA.”
He further applauded the car guards for working hard at all times and said the certificates would also open doors for them to seek greener pastures.
The head of mall security, Shaun Mphego, said the car guards previously had no formal training, a code of conduct or knowledge as far as the security governing body was concerned.
“PSIRA previously instructed that car guards be trained, and/or malls must hire already trained security officers.”
The management team of Tubatse Crossing did not act oblivious to the impoverished background that most of
these guards come from, and committed themselves to taking these guards to school.
Botes concluded by urging the graduates to be committed to their duties and to remain disciplined.
Tubatse Crossing’s marketing manager, Karabo Tjie, said in closing that the mall was surrounded by a very vibrant
community and the team on-site would endeavour to involve that community in as many ways as possible. The locals were urged to continue choosing the mall as their number-one shopping destination of choice, and Tubatse Crossing continues to adhere and operate within the ambit of Covid-19 regulations.
The event was concluded with a security parade by the graduates and lunch.
