Teacher arrested for alleged stealing
She was arrested for allegedly stealing feeding scheme groceries belonging to the pupils.
SEKHUKHUNE – The ongoing weekly SAPS operations conducted across Limpopo led to the arrest of 1 460 suspects aged between 22 and 45.
A total of 233 additional suspects were arrested for contravention of the Disaster Management Act in the five districts of Limpopo. Suspects were arrested for various offences, ranging from murder, theft, rape, robberies, assaults, smuggling of illicit goods and contravention of the Immigration Act and the Disaster Management Act. Among those arrested is a teacher of Maswianape Primary School in Sekhukhune.
She was arrested for allegedly stealing feeding scheme groceries belonging to the pupils.
“The teacher was assigned to receive the food on behalf of the school where she works on August 3, but she was seen loading some of the items into her car. The police were alerted after the teacher was spotted by community members, and they confronted her as she was opening the gate to her driveway,” said the spokesperson for the Limpopo SAPS, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.
He said a case of theft has been opened against her at Rakgoadi SAPS.
The spokesperson for the Limpopo Department of Education, Tidimalo Chuene, said internal investigations are ongoing for appropriate action to be taken.
The provincial police commissioner, Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe, expressed his appreciation for the outstanding job the police are continuing to do in ridding Limpopo of crime. She said the arrested suspects, including the teacher, will soon appear in various magistrate’s courts in the Sekhukhune area.
