SAPS members volunteer to renovate building

JANE FURSE – The officials at Sekhukhune SAPS in Schoonoord believe in the saying, “cleanliness is next to godliness”.

After realising that some of the buildings at the station were dilapidated, the men and women in blue went beyond the call of duty. The SAPS members recently renovated the station’s Client Service Centre (CSC) office.

They were led by the newly appointed station commander, Col Lekgaloa Leshilo. The members refurbished the office by tiling the walls and floor. They also revamped the ceiling.

The office looks better than new and is now conducive to proper service delivery.

“We initiated a project to change the face of the station. The station CSC office had many black spots on the yellow walls and the new station commander was uncomfortable with it.

“Col Leshilo then came up with the project to tile the CSC walls so they’d be easy to clean, but there were no funds. The management of the station and other SAPS members worked beyond their ranks to make sure the station looks better. They tiled the walls without remuneration,” said Sgt Lesetja Kevin Mphahlele, the social crime prevention coordinator and station’s spokesperson.

Leshilo applauded WO Moses Maphanga for his multi-skilled service and all other members for their support. He encouraged the members to always work together as a team in order to achieve their goals.
