The FTSEZ will see investors from across the world invest locally.
Nestled in the industrial hub of the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, the proposed Fetakgomo Tubatse Special Economic Zone (FTSEZ) seeks to accelerate economic growth, development, and job creation in the Limpopo Province through promoting industrial agglomeration, facilitating increased trade and investment, supporting the development in sustainable enterprise, and ensuring infrastructure development. This proposed SEZ is poised to be the clean energy hub of the Sekhukhune District in the Limpopo Province.
During the recent Limpopo Investment Conference held in Polokwane, the minister of trade, industry and competition, Parks Tau, committed to getting the proposed SEZ to be designated – this, to the applaud of roaring government representatives and investors.

The importance of designating the area has immediate benefits to the Limpopo Province, and the Sekhukhune District.
A majority of potential investors from across the world are looking for opportunities to invest in the new sunshine sectors such as renewable and green energy sectors. The past two years saw an aggressive push for packaging the license application which was ultimately submitted in October 2023.
The interim CEO of proposed FTSEZ, Solly Kgopong, is elated with these developments because of the urgency and pressures that potential investors are putting on his doorstep.

With the 2030 deadline for the meeting the targets of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) meant for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all, the designation of the SEZ will add value to for South Africa’s role in repositioning Africa as a global powerhouse of the future.

It will position the country in the implementation of the African Union (AU)’s Agenda 2063 through several flagship projects aimed at boosting economic growth and development. Interest on products manufactured on the back of green energy and as part of the just transition agenda will provide further opportunities for the SEZ.
Limpopo Province is situated at the borders of the SADC and is the gateway to the rest of the African continent. With renewables as the future energy resources for powering economies, the FTSEZ is well positioned to manufacture the technologies, ensure the production and supply of clean energy to local industries and beyond. Leveraging on this, the SEZ is poised to venture into a sustainable and attractive avenue for benefiting from both upstream and downstream productive opportunities.
