Gift ideas for kids: Cool Christmas presents your children will love

From games that you can build to dolls, we take a look at some christmas gift ideas for kids that the kids in your life will absolutely love.

The tinsel, glitter and Christmas trees are out and festive season plans are being made but we have yet to get to the best part of it all – the gifts! In this article, we take a look at gift ideas for kids. No matter what kind of relationship you have with the little ones in your life, one thing is for sure, they’ll love whatever presents you get them.

The act of giving gifts during the festive season is purely symbolic and rooted in the Christian tradition in honour of the tributes made to the baby Jesus by the Three Wise Men after his birth during the story of the Nativity.

According to Gifts International, the practice is not something that is exclusive to Christianity.

“This is because several other religions mark the end of the year with a similar custom, such as the Jewish festival of lights Hanukkah or the Hindu celebration of Pancha Ganapati in honour of Lord Ganesha.”

No matter the reason, however, gift-giving can become a little difficult when it comes to ideas for what to get the people in your life and gift ideas for kids can tend to get complicated because you’re just not sure what a child may like at whatever age.

Coding and gaming

If you have a kid in your life who is all about electronics, coding and gaming, items such as the electric paint circuit kit development board, Arduino starter kit and retro gaming kit from RS Components South Africa may make the perfect gifts.

These items offer the opportunity to do everything from making your own gaming console to learning about parallel circuits without needing tools, programming, wires or special skills.

Pricing for items listed above ranges between R390 and R1,750.
