Police probe slain Tembisa taxi association boss

The victim, who was gunned down after dropping off children, was shot twice and declared dead on the scene by paramedics.


A Tembisa Local Taxi Association’s (TELTA) rank manager was fatally shot in his yard in Esiphethweni Section on the morning of February 26, Tembisan reports.

According to Tembisa South SAPS spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the 62-year-old man was killed by two unknown suspects after he had transported his children to school.

“The victim was shot twice and declared dead on the scene by paramedics. His personal firearm was also taken by the suspects.

“It is alleged that the deceased transported his children to school in the morning and when he came back and entered his yard met two gunmen who were waiting for him next to his gate. The suspects allegedly absconded the scene in a silver Mazda sedan,” said Sekgobela.

Tembisa South SAPS is investigating a case of murder.

“We are appealing to members of the community who might have any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward,” said Sekgobela.
