Free State Gambling Board raided by the Hawks

The Hawks are investigating allegations of fraud, corruption and possible money laundering.

The Hawks conducted a search and seizure operation at the Free State Gambling Liquor and Tourism Board offices on Wednesday, investigating allegations of fraud, corruption and possible money laundering.

The Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation unit raided the offices in Bloemfontein following long-drawn investigations of the allegations.

In a statement, Hawks spokesperson S’fiso Nyakane said the investigations are of tenders estimated to be worth R150 million which were awarded to two companies in June last year.

“No arrests have been made thus far. Investigations continue,” Nyakane said.
