Malema warns fighters about planned plot against EFF leaders

The EFF leader claims instructions have been issued to use old stories to discredit the party.

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema on Tuesday warned his party members of an apparently planned strategy meant to discredit party leaders. The EFF leader claimed that instructions had been issued by the “establishment” to “Stratcom” to reuse old stories meant to discredit EFF leaders in the next three weeks.

“They can’t find anything new,” said the EFF leader.

EFF leaders have been defending the party against negative media reports, accusing them of trying to destroy the party.

Deputy president Floyd Shivambu, in response to an opinion piece challenging the growth of the EFF, said: “Pure hogwash by an intellectually paralysed racist. The rise of the EFF irks these fellows and they all will write nonsense about the EFF and its leadership. The EFF is unstoppable and we take the racist claptrap as cheers for us to fight on and harder. It’s #OurLandandJobsNow.”

The party held its election rallies in Sharpeville in Gauteng, Tubatse in Limpopo, eMalahleni in Mpumalanga, Kuruman, in Northern Cape, and eThekwini in KwaZulu-Natal, over the weekend.

In a statement thanking supporters for showing, the party further slammed the media for not covering the rallies in an attempt to create an impression that the party’s support was shrinking.

It said: “Fighters must know that Stratcom continues to wage war against us. They refuse to cover our events in an effort to hide the successes of the growth of the EFF, so as to create an impression that we are small in numbers. Their pens continue to lie, misrepresent, and misinform society about who we are. The only way to defeat them is total commitment, day by day, on the ground. We must continue to speak to more people in a single day, than the whole media combined.”
