Twitter calls for North West councillor’s State of the Ward Address to be televised

Social media has reacted with both humour and praise to a rural councillor's apparent commitment to accountability.


Following a North West rural councillor’s announcement of his State of the Ward Address (Sowa) this year, Twitter and other social media platforms have mostly lauded Morake Gilbert Molefe’s commitment to accountability while also having a bit of a good-natured giggle about it.

Molefe is a 31-year-old ANC councillor serving about 14,000 people in six villages in the Morelete Local Municipality, and on Sunday, March 30, he will provide them with feedback on the state of Ward 10.

He has said that he came up with the idea for a Sowa because the people who had voted for him in 2016 deserve accountability.

He delivered his first Sowa last year, according to the municipality.
