The South African Weather Service (Saws) has released its latest weather forecast for Wednesday, 14 May 2025.
Weather warnings include heatwave conditions in Richtersveld, Northern Cape and fire risks parts of the Northern and Western Cape. Fine, cool conditions expected elsewhere. Here’s what you need to know.
The weather service has warned of extremely high fire danger conditions expected over extreme northwestern parts of the Northern Cape (along and adjacent to the coastal areas) as well as the northeastern interior of the Western Cape.
Saws also warned that a heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the Richtersveld Municipality of the Northern Cape until Friday.

Residents of Gauteng can expect morning fog patches in the north; otherwise, it will be fine and cool.

Mpumalanga residents can expect morning fog patches along the escarpment; otherwise, conditions will be fine and cool, but partly cloudy in the east. It will be warm in the Lowveld.
The day will be cloudy along the escarpment at first with morning fog patches; otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool but warm in places in the east.
Fine and cool weather awaits North West residents.
Residents of the Free State will experience fine and cool weather.
The day will be fine and cool to warm but hot to very hot along the north coast.
Western Cape residents can expect morning fog patches along the south coast and adjacent interior where it will be cool; otherwise, it will be fine and warm but hot along the west coast.
