Here's what to expect on Monday, 5 May 2025.

The South African Weather Service (Saws) has issued an alert for extremely high fire danger conditions on Monday.
These conditions are expected in the Richtersveld, Nama Khoi and Kemiesberg local municipalities in the Northern Cape, and the Breede Valley and Laingsburg local municipalities in the Western Cape.

“Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions, fires may develop and spread rapidly, resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human or animal life,” warned the weather service.
Gauteng: Partly cloudy and cool. The expected UVB sunburn index: Moderate.
Mpumalanga: Fine and cool, but warm in the Lowveld.
Limpopo: Partly cloudy and cool, but warm in the Lowveld.

North West: Partly cloudy and cool weather.
Free State: Fine and cool weather, but partly cloudy over the northern parts.
Northern Cape: Fine and cool to warm weather. It will be windy in places in the east. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly, becoming fresh in the afternoon.
Western Cape: Fine and warm, but cool weather along the west and south-west coast. The wind along the coast will be light and variable along the south coast in the morning, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly to westerly, otherwise moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly. The expected UVB sunburn index: Moderate.
Western half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and warm, but cool in places in the north. The wind along the coast will be light northerly at first, otherwise light and variable.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and warm, but cool weather in the north. The wind along the coast will be Light northerly, becoming north-easterly from late morning.
KwaZulu-Natal: Warm along the north coast with morning fog over the central and north-western interior, otherwise fine and cool. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-westerly until late morning, otherwise moderate to fresh north-easterly. The expected UVB sunburn index: Extreme
