Zuma mathematics rubs off on Mbalula

It is safe to assume Police Minister Fikile Mbalula is our least favourite minister at the moment, probably just one spot below Minister Bathabile Dlamini, after his interview with Talk Radio 702 on Tuesday morning.

Radio listeners and social media users have been on Mbalula’s case after saying what happened between deputy minister Mduduzi Manana and his victim was a “tavern fight”. Now memes have started circulating of Mbalula with Manana embracing each other.

However, Facebook and Twitter users have another reason to lash out at Mbalula after doing what he usually does on Twitter – updating people on what criminals were up to.

This time, however, he showed followers he had been spending too much time with President Jacob Zuma, who had a problem with mathematics.

Mbalula on Monday told his followers, in a tweet that has since been deleted, that there was a cash-in-transit heist by four suspects.

“Four suspects, four shot dead. One wounded in hospital,” he said.

Mbalula saw his mistake, quickly deleted the tweet, then tweeted another one, with the right numbers this time, but not before screenshots of his first tweet began circulating.

His post divided social media, with some saying perhaps the extra person was a police officer and not one of the suspects. Some, however, argued the minister was doing what the president did every time there were numbers involved in his speeches.

“I am pretty sure that the other it may be that the wounded one is a cop then all the suspects are the deceased, that’s how I understand the statement made by Minister.”

“You must divide the suspects by two, minus negative one plus wanya tsotsi then you’ll get the other suspect.”

“Number five was passing by and caught a flying bullet.”

“If four were shot dead and then who is wounded?”

“This English is loud and clear, doesn’t need any construction or edition. . who said the shot ones are only the tsotsi’s who all died..also the police or guards were there on the scene..amen..
