Dragons and Lions fight for final berth in Potch this Sunday

It is a do-or-die encounter this Sunday (3 April) for a spot in the CSA One Day Cup final between the North West Dragons and the Imperial Lions at the J.B. Marks Oval.

The match which start early doors at 10:00 will most definitely be a tight encounter between both sides who will hope to make it to the final against a superb Titans team.

The Titans did early psychological damage to the Dragons this past Wednesday scoring a record One day total of 453/3 against them in Centurion – the same venue of the final.

The Dragons though can not dwell on that 200 run defeat and will need to believe that that was only a once off, if they are to beat the Lions in the last group game.

The Lions enhanced their chances of qualification for the final when they beat the Titans by one wicket on Friday, 1 April. They are now two points ahead of the Dragons on the log, but a win for the Potchefstroom based team will see them leapfrog the men from Johannesburg.

The Lions are a talented unit with former Dragons spinner, Bjorn Fortuin, speedster, Sisanda Magala and batsman, Mitchell van Buuren in good form.

The Dragons will look to Wesley Marshall, Delano Potgieter, Shaylen Pillay and Senuran Muthusamy to shine for them in this encounter. Marshall, Potgieter and Pillay are all former Lions players and would like to get one over their former team.

In the same breath, Lions players, Kagiso Rapulana, Louren Steenkamp, Malusi Siboto, and Fortuin have all featured for the Dragons at some point in their careers. It all builds up to an instant classic this Sunday.
