Former Dragons star hits superb century against her former team

One of the former North West Dragons star players, Tazmin Brits, hit a brilliant 134* (115) for her new side, the SWD Garden Route Badgers to take them to a 7 wicket win against the NW Dragons women in the CSA Women's One Day match at the Witrand Oval in Potchefstroom.

One of the former North West Dragons star players, Tazmin Brits, hit a brilliant 134* (115) for her new side, the SWD Garden Route Badgers to take them to a 7 wicket win against the NW Dragons women in the CSA Women’s One Day match at the Witrand Oval in Potchefstroom.

Brits was on top form yesterday (Saturday, 19 November) on a pitch she knows quite well from her playing days for the Dragons, and made merry, hitting 14 fours and two sixes along the way. She also finished the game off with a huge six.

She also had good support from Bianca Figeland (34 off 67) and Mieke de Ridder (27 off 36) as they chased down the NW Dragons total of 227/7 with 10 overs to spare.

The Dragons relied heavily on captain Izel Cilliers for a competitive total as she hit a majestic 121 not out from 151 balls. The opener carried her bat in an innings that encapsulated her fighting spirit and concentration at the crease. It was only Masabatha Klaas with 34 (43) who showed any resistance as the rest of the batting line up struggled.

NW Dragons bowlers Zintle Mali (2/44) in 7 overs and Evodia Yekile (1/45) in 10 overs impressed the most in a losing effort.
