KZN Ezemvelo Wildlife will be promoting wildlife conservation and anti-rhino-poaching initiatives through soccer and athletics.

Musa Mntambo, who is the Ezemvelo spokesperson, said that 32 traditional authorities across the province will participate in this cup, which will kick off on September 15.

“The purpose of these games is to create awareness of the plight of the rhinos and spread the request to various traditional authorities adjacent to our game reserves to work with us to stop this epidemic. Let’s come together and support this important cause which celebrates the incredible work being done to protect our precious wildlife,” said Mntambo.

Doctor Khumalo said the South African Football Association (SAFA) will be using the games to scout players for development.

“At SAFA, we believe in more than just tournaments – we scout incredible individuals, not just trophies. In sports, the principles remain constant, serving as a unifying force that shapes us into purposeful beings. We have discovered a unique way to prepare our players for the grand stage: through the power of wildlife,” said Khumalo.

From September 15, the first games will be held in Hlabisa Sports Grounds, and further venues will be announced.
