Cricketer (10) puts on a Protea-level show

Warner Beach's bite-sized batsman achieved an incredible 328 runs in just six matches across three days while representing his district.

LEADING from the front for the U11 Durban South Cricket Team was cricketing sensation, Jeremy Tholë (10), who represented the district during the KZN Schools Cricket festival from March 7-9, which took place at various Durban schools during the weekend.

Wade Botha, departmental head of sport and marketing at Warner Beach Preparatory School, proudly said, “Jeremy was in blistering form as he scored 328 runs over the three days and six matches. He showed resilience, determination and excellence. He posted over 50 runs in two of the matches, then scored 72 runs in another and then really blew minds with 115 runs in another game. He didn’t stop there, he also took 12 wickets over the weekend. With statistics like this, it seems we have a Protea in the making here at the school. Well done Jeremy.”

The Warner Beach resident’s mum, Lauryn Tholë, of the Amanzimtoti Cricket Club, was beyond proud of Jeremy, whom she said “eats, sleeps and breathes cricket”.

“We are very proud of all his hard work, perseverance and determination. Jeremy has loved cricket since he was very small. He works hard and practises every day. He puts a lot of effort in and it shows with the results he is achieving. We as a family could not be more proud of the young man he is and we will be right next to him with every step of his journey, wherever it may take him,” said Lauryn.
