Wentworth Street Crime Unit nabs drug suspect
The accused (36) was arrested during a foot patrol operation conducted on Lansdowne Road in Wentworth recently.
METRO Police Street Crimes Unit based in Wentworth arrested a 36-year-old man for dealing in drugs recently. The accused, Ervin Baca, appeared at the Durban Magistrate’s Court and was granted bail.
A police source told the SUN that the accused was arrested near Lansdowne Road at a shop where he is alleged to have been operating.

“The Wentworth Metro Police Street Crime unit were conducting foot patrols along Lansdowne Road when they came across a suspect who was known to them as he had previously been arrested for similar offences. He was approached, searched and found in possession of rock cocaine, Mandrax and heroin.”

In another story, the police arrested a 33-year-old suspect for possession of suspected stolen goods. The suspect was caught selling items to the public that are suspected to have been stolen.
According to a police report, the suspect is linked to multiple house break-in cases in Merebank. It is alleged that the suspect broke into a residence in the area and stole a gas stove.
“A private security company apprehended the suspect in Merebank and brought him to Wentworth police station. Further investigations revealed that the suspect was involved in other house break-in cases. He later led the police to the individual to whom he had sold the gas stove,” said a police source.
The suspect was charged for house break-in and theft. He is expected to appear in court soon.
