Jockey Richard Fourie fighting fit after fall in June

Many racing fans will be questioning whether jockey Richard Fourie will be fit enough to do justice to Legislate, who has been disputing favouritism and is currently second on bookmakers' boards at 9-2 for the Durban July at Greyville on Saturday.

Richard Fourie was on the sidelines for three weeks, only returning to race riding last Saturday.

However, the 28-year-old jockey says: “I’m a very fit person and, anyway, all I’ll be doing is pointing him in the right direction and popping the question when he needs to go.”

Richard Fourie hurt an AC joint when his mount, Jet Explorer, clipped heels and tumbled head-first into the turf in the Gold Challenge on June 7. The jockey showed no signs of stress at Kenilworth last Saturday.
