Let us be with Legatee

A difficult race-card awaits punters for today's race meeting at Flamingo Park but there is usually value to be found and in Race 9, a MR 64 handicap over 1600m Legatee could fit the bill.

This recent recruit to the bang-in-form Dorrie Sham yard (Kimberley branch) was not disgraced in his first try on this surface when beaten 4 lengths by King Of The Castle over this distance last week.

Legatee had Sir Newton, Merciless, Terrible Gulch and Koenigsegg all struggling behind him that day which if you take a line of form through Sir Newton (Noah Forever and Stone Reeves) this gelding could have the measure of likely favourites Giro Jet and Carlisie.

A deep draw of Stall No 15 is going to prove a problem for jockey Hennie Greyling so he will need to ride a positive race and stay out
the kick-back on Legatee.

Sir Newton may be better than his last run as he was too far back and he never got into the race. Better drawn this time should see him run well.

Carlisie and Giro Jet are both battling to get back into the winner’s enclosure but have the ability to win in a low grade race such as this and they need to be respected.

Dynamic Star and Merciless are clearly better horses than their last runs would suggest and can be included in exotic bets like Trifectas and Quartets.

Davie Bowy is a reserve runner at this stage but if he does compete he could be the surprise package.
