Nyangan to tame the Poly

It is still a long way to go but they do seem to have a decent filly in Nyangan, who is trained by Dean Kannemeyer.

Smart Call, winner of the J&B Met, will soon be going into quarantine to start a new life racing internationally and owners Wilgerbosdrift Stud, represented by Jessica Slack, will be looking for a decent replacement in South Africa.

It is still a long way to go but they do seem to have a decent filly in Nyangan, who is trained by Dean Kannemeyer. The three-year-old filly has raced six times for two wins and a place but she is by Silvano and his progeny often are better four and five-year-olds.

At this stage Kannemeyer has restricted her to races up to 1400m and that is the distance over which she will contest Race 5 at Greyville tonight, a FM 74 Handicap on the Polytrack. Her only other outing at the track was not particularly memorable as she finished a 2.25-length sixth behind French Lass.

However, there were excuses as she was coming back from a break and was squeezed out at the start. She made up for that defeat with a fluent three-length victory over Seek The Summit on the turf at Greyville and the 3kg penalty should not trouble her against this opposition.

Nyangan is improving with each run and stands out as the best bet on the Greyville card.
