The penny has dropped

In racing terminology the term the penny has dropped has been over-used recently but it certainly applies to the Neil Bruss-trained Zante as the filly has certainly picked up her form with two wins coming in her last three starts.

Bruss is no stranger to getting the best out of his small string and seems particularly adept when it comes to the fillies and Zante will be doing her best work late and could be the one to win the get out stakes, Race 8 over 1800m at Kenilworth on Saturday. Zante returned to racing in November and proved a length too good for subsequent winner Evoke Emotion over this course and distance with Bernard Fayd’Herbe up.

She was the victim of interference when unplaced behind Speedy Chestnut in January with MJ Byleveld aboard in January. Stepped up to 2000m and re-united with Fayd’Herbe Zante ran out an easy 2.50 length winner over Pistacchio.

Clearly Fayd’Herbe has the answer to Zante and from draw 6 the combination should be in touch and ready to strike. A drop in her rating has led to some better runs from Skysign recently and she could prove to be the main threat to Zante.
