The Snaith machine to run all over them

The yard look to hold strong winning chances in races 2, 4, 5 and 6, with Race 5’s Sub Zero probably being the banker bet of the day. The feature race of the day is Race 6, the Lady’s Pendant over 1200m, and Justin has two carded to run.

Jo’s Bond has won five of her 10 starts to date but is coming off two unplaced runs in two feature races in the Western Cape.

This Captain Al filly was not disgraced in either of those defeats though as she was only 2.25 lengths behind the classy Carry On Alice in December and tried to make all but cast a shoe when only tiring very late over 1400m behind Illuminator.

Regular stable rider S’manga Khumalo takes over duty on her and although the five wins of Jo’s Bond were achieved over 1000m this trip should not cause any fear among her supporters.

Stable companion Blue Dawn found the speedy Blizzard Belle too quick for her over 1000m last time and had won her previous five starts so deserves respect.

Although she is rated the same merit rating-wise it does appear that Jo’s Bond has achieved more to date. It will be hard to outrun the Snaith machine in Race 2, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1800m as the yard has three of the six runners following the scratching of Grape Vine.

Jet Explorer is best suited to the conditions of the race and has Khumalo aboard but has not won for some time and the stable companions Paolo (will prefer the turf) and Masterly who is down in class from J&B Met last run. Global Express and Oh So Modus will have some support to beat the Snaith trio.

Blizzard Belle in Race 4, won her last five starts over this 1000m trip and in impressive fashion but she may meet her match in Harry Lime.

Yet another Snaith runner, Harry Lime disappointed when four lengths behind Gulf Storm in the Grade 1 Cape Flying Championship but he is clearly better than that run would suggest and beat Brutal Force in his penultimate run.

Khumalo has won four times aboard Blizzard Belle but will be on Harry Lime this time.

Sub Zero has been disappointing to date as he has yet to win in his eight starts but has found a modest field in Race 5 over 1600m and should prove  a bit better than them.

The Western Winter gelding ran on nicely when third to Benjan at Kenilworth earlier this month. The Corne Spies-trained AP Ikhaja won full of running the last time she was seen on the turf and was not disgraced to an improving filly, Belle Spumante, last time out so can win the lucky last race.
