Chiefs exit door looming for Mahlasela

Midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela will be a free agent after June if Kaizer Chiefs don’t renew his contract.

Mahlasela was loaned out to Polokwane City by Amakhosi in January to get more game time. The midfielder has struggled to break in Chiefs’ starting line up since joining the Soweto giants from Bloemfontein Celtic.

Mahlasela’s agent Tshepo Mabona says Chiefs have not indicated whether they would like the player to return to Naturena or not once his contract expires. The end of the loan deal with Rise and Shine will signal the end of the player’s relationship with Chiefs.

The midfielder had a good start to life at Polokwane City after joining the Limpopo side in January but the lockdown and suspension of football activities in South Africa derailed his progress.

According to Lesedi FM Mabona says there has been little communication between his client and Chiefs about extending the player’s contract for next season and they will start looking for a new club at the end of June.
