Former Sundowns star falls into depression after SuperSport TV sacking
The family of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Zane Moosa believes he is suffering from depression.

This comes after they have tried unsuccessfully to get into his house to talk to him. Zane’s brother Smiley, who is also a retired football player, says his younger brother’s troubles started when he was fired by SuperSportTV.
Smiley says the family was forced to admit the former Sundowns midfielder into a psychiatric hospital and was making progress but has since fallen back into depression.
According to Smiley, the family has tried to involve his close friends, hoping they can get through to him, but no one has been able to convince the former player to open the door.
“We are having a tough time with Zane Moosa. It started two years ago when he was fired at SuperSport as an analyst. He was asked to shave his beard and he told them he’s a devout Muslim and it’s his culture and he can’t,” Moosa told SAFM.
“As a family, we go to his house and he doesn’t open for us. He is not even willing to open for his kids. He doesn’t want to see anybody. He is refusing to speak to any one of us. His situation hurts us as a family. He doesn’t even go to the mosque anymore.
“My sister cooks and brings him food every day, but he doesn’t open for her at all,” said Moosa.
