Jonevret on self-belief mission at Pirates

In the wake of Orlando Pirates draw against Polokwane City on Saturday, coach Kjell Jonevret believes self-belief stands between the Sea Robbers and victory.

The Swedish mentor settled for a draw against the Team of Choice in his first match in charge, with the Buccaneers loanee Dove Wome scoring the equaliser to cancel out Rodney Ramagalela’s goal.

“I told them [the players] they must start believing in themselves because they are good football players,” said the 54-year-old.

“They just have to start to believe and it’s going to take a few weeks until you know the quality of the whole group, of course.”

Jonevret also praised Oupa Manyisa’s contribution to the game. The Bucs captain has been under immense pressure in recent weeks, with some Pirates fans questioning his form.

“I heard his [Manyisa’s] form has gone a little bit down. I think Manyisa was absolutely okay [against Polokwane City], because I know he’s a really good football player. He’s in the direction now I hope.”
