Arrows to play the ‘Arrows way’ in KZN derby, insists Seema

'We are expecting a difficult game against AmaZulu', added Arrows head coach Lehlohonolo Seema.

Golden Arrows have bucked popular opinion that they would struggle without some of their main players and coach from last season. The Durban side had their best ever run last season under Mandla Ncikazi, finishing in the fourth position in the DStv Premiership.

At the end of the season, they sold some of their key players including Divine Lunga and Ntsako Makhubela, while their coach also left for Orlando Pirates.

They have, however, had a decent start under Lehlohonolo Seema as they have won one, drawn one, and lost one in the Premiership, while they have made the semifinals in the MTN8.

Seema has insisted that the team will play the Arrows way which is what saw them do so well last season. The team are known for their fast-paced and expressive approach. And this is what Seema is banking on ahead of their KZN derby match against AmaZulu on Wednesday afternoon.

“We are expecting a very difficult game against AmaZulu. We are quite aware that it is a derby and you know how derbies are. There is a lot at stake in terms of the bragging rights for the supporters and the players.

“We are facing AmaZulu knowing that their past result was extremely good if you look at how they managed to beat a team who had not lost at home in Malawi for over 10 years, that speaks volumes about them,” said Seema.

Usuthu tipped the scales in their favour in their Caf Champions League campaign, beating Nyasa Big Bullets 3-1 away after they had lost the home leg 1-0 a week earlier.

“But we are Golden Arrows and we will play our way. We are quite aware that in our past two games we conceded towards the end of the game and we have been working on that.

“One thing we have to do is be aware that AmaZulu have a lot of experienced players and have a number of quality players they can put out on the day. But as Golden Arrows we will insist on playing our way, if we play our way, we have a real chance of earning the full points.”
