WATCH: Percy Tau scores brace on Al Ahly debut

It was a dream start for the former Brighton and Hove Albion forward.

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau scored a brace on his Al Ahly debut on Wednesday evening.

It was a dream start for the former Brighton and Hove Albion forward as he helped Pitso Mosimane to a 4-0 win over Ismaily in their opening match of the Egyptian Premier League.

The Red Devils took the game to their opponents early on with Tau spearheading the attack.

It did not come as a surprise when they were even awarded a penalty in the 21st minute after Luis Miquissone was fouled inside the box.

Ali Maaloul stepped up to take the penalty and managed to put it past Ahmed Adel Abdelmoneim to make it 1-0 for the visitors.

Tau then made it 2-0 for Al Ahly two minutes later when he dribbled past an Ismaily defender before smashing the ball into the back of the net.

The Bafana star then completed his brace in the 32nd minute after receiving a cross from Mohamed Magdy Afsha to make it 3-0 for the Red Devils going into the half time break.

Al Ahly were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute after Aliou Dieng was sent off in the 74th minute for a second bookable offence. But Ismaily failed to take advantage of the advantage, it was Al Ahly instead who scored another goal late in the match when Tau’s replacement Ahmed Abdelkader smashed home a powerful strike from close range.

After the first round of fixtures for the season, Al Ahly are on top the Egyptian league on goal difference from National Bank and Zamalek.
