Baroka players fear for jobs

Baroka FC coach Wedson Nyirenda may have shot himself in the foot when he announced on TV that he would be looking for new players who are "worthy" of Absa Premiership level for next season.

Nyirenda said this after his side lost 2-1 at Highlands Park on Saturday, making it clear that most players will be offloaded come end of the season.

“You don’t say such things when you are in the relegation zone. You have to keep it inside because it could backfire badly,” said a former player.

“To let them know they don’t have jobs anyway was a bit harsh,” he added.
