Chiefs legend Khumalo appointed as Baroka caretaker coach

Doctor Khumalo will take over as Baroka FC caretaker coach for the final two Absa Premiership games of the season, after MacDonald Makhubedu stepped down from the position on Friday.

Baroka CEO Morgan Mammila confirmed to Phakaaathi on Friday that Khumalo, who joined Baroka as technical director at the start of the season, would lead the side at home to Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday, and away to SuperSport United on May 12.

Baroka are just two points above 15th-placed Ajax Cape Town, and in danger of slipping into the relegation play-offs.

Mammila added that Makhubedu would stay on as a technical advisor.

“MacDonald is a young coach, we were worried about the team,” said Mammila.

“We don’t want to go to the play-offs,” he added.
