Chiefs target returns to Celtic for preseason

Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela, who has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, has reported for training at Siwelele.

Mahlasela, who has not yet signed the new contract that Celtic, still has a year running on his contract after Celtic exercised their one-year option.

The midfielder confirmed to KickOff that he has returned to Celtic for the preseason training.

“I have come back to Celtic for preseason because I still have a year remaining since the club has exercised the option of a further season,” said Mahlasela.

“Yes, the club has offered me a new contract but I haven’t signed it as yet. So for now I don’t really know what is going to happen as I will also be guided by my father who represents me in such matters. With all that said what is also important for me is to continue playing regular football.”

Mahlasela added that he had not been in contact with Amakhosi.

“I personally haven’t spoken to anyone from Chiefs. My father also hasn’t told me anything to do with Chiefs. If there anything he would have at least informed me. Celtic haven’t mentioned anything to me as well because I take it that if there is any club that wants me then they will inform Celtic since I am still their player,” explained Mahlasela.
