Chippa fire another coach

Chippa United have reportedly released another coach seven games into the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season.

According to the HeraldLIVE, caretaker coach Duran Francis, who took over Clinton Larsen just recently, has become the latest coach to be sacked by the Port Elizabeth-based club’s trigger happy chairman Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi.

Francis lasted just two games, losing his second game in charge of the Chilli Boys to Maritzburg United on Friday night.

Mpengesi couldn’t confirm nor deny that he had fired Francis after just two games.

“It’s not true‚ I can’t comment on that‚” Mpengesi when asked about Francis.

Club assistant coach Mbuyiselo Sambu, however, confirmed that he will take over the coaching role on an interim basis until they find another coach.

“Upon our arrival from Maritzburg‚ the team manager informed me that I will take over from Francis until a new coach is found,” Sambu is quoted as saying.

Phakaaathi was unsuccessful in trying to get a comment from Mpengesi and Francis, with the latter’s phone ringing before it was eventually switched off.
