Ex-Bafana forward reaches out to Meyiwa

Former SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana forward Raymond Seopa says he would like to speak to midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa, who retired at a young age because of an accident.

Seopa, whose career was also cut short following a car accident in 2002, was saddened by the news of Meyiwa’s condition after Chiefs confirmed that the midfielder will no longer play football.

“Meyiwa needs to stay strong, and pray all the time, he needs to thank God that he is still alive, I would like to meet him to advise him about going through this process,” Seopa told SAFM.

“It’s a tough thing to go through because you think about it every day and night, because during the day you have friends and you laughing and everyone is happy, when you are alone that is when you need think about a way forward.”

Seopa added that he wished he had listened to coaches who had warned them as players about driving at night.

The former SuperSport forward says Meyiwa needs to be grateful that he didn’t lose his life in the accident like other footballers who died on the road.
