Experienced players will need to stand up – Booth

Former Ajax Cape Town defender Matthew Booth says experienced players will need to play a vital role in Ajax quest to survive relegation in their last game against Kaizer Chiefs at the Cape Town Stadium on May 12.

The lanky defender, who was part of the Urban Warriors team that survived the relegation axe in the 2012/2013 campaign with one game remain says skipper Musa Lebusa and Mario Booysen will need to lift the morale of the guys on the day.

“On the day, the experienced players will need to stand up – you need strong leadership, especially when things go wrong and you are on the back foot, it is important that the team reacts positively. It is difficult to reset your mind and carry on following a setback,” Booth told the Ajax website.

“If things don’t go as planned Muhsin Ertugral will rely on guys like Mosa Lebusa and Mario Booysen to encourage the team and refocus. Hopefully, it will not come to that, though, and Ajax Cape Town will have a good game from start to finish.”

Ajax are 15th on the log table with 31 points, two points away from safety.
