Former Bafana captain sleeps through house robbery

Former Bidvest Wits midfielder Steven Pienaar and his family were not harmed when thugs walked into their home in the middle of the night and robbed them of their valuable items.

Pienaar and his family were sleeping as thugs helped themselves to a number of items including a sound system, cellphone, Louis Vuitton, keys to his luxury car, about R9 900 in cash ($800) and his driver’s license.

“I was at home too but I didn’t hear anything,” Pienaar told the Sunday Times.

“I am still surprised as to how they managed to pass through the electric fence and the laser beams.

“It appears that it was people who were too familiar with my house’s security and who knew that I and my family were sleeping at the time,” Pienaar explained.
