By Sibongiseni Gumbi

Jomo Cosmos owner and coach Jomo Sono is said to be of the belief that his team is ‘fine’ despite their horrific start to the GladAfrica Championship campaign.

Ezenkosi are rooted to the bottom of the standings – a position they usually occupy for 10 months when they have been promoted to the premier division – after 12 games.

The side have collected a mere five points out of a possible 36 so far this season but those close to the club have claimed the owner is not worried as yet.

It is said Jomo insists his team not be relegated from this division and it is just a matter of time before they start climbing up.

But Phakaaathi has also learnt that Sono is already lining up a few experienced players he wants to bring to the team to help pull them out of the relegation places.

“Players like S’celo Mkhize are likely to be asked to come and help. He is speaking to AmaZulu about him because he is not being used there anyway. And Mkhize is also keen on it,” a source has claimed.

Ezenkosi have some tough fixtures before the end of the first round and could be in more trouble should things not change soon.

Cosmos are away to Cape Town All Stars this weekend in what should be a tough encounter for them. Stars are on 17 points, seven off the top and will be looking to climb closer to the chasing pack.

After that they visit fellow strugglers TS Sporting. This is also not an easy fixture for Ezenkosi with Sporting also finding it hard to replicate the form they showed in their first two seasons in the paid ranks.

In their next three games after that, Cosmos will host Black Leopards, visit current log leaders JDR Stars and finish their year with a home game against All Stars.
