Some former Celtic squad players still in limbo at Royal AM

A source said these players have not been part of the team because their futures are still being discussed.

There are a number of players who were previously with Bloemfontein Celtic whose future still hangs in the balance with a few days to the end of the transfer window.

A source said these players have not been part of the Royal AM team because their futures are still being discussed.

“The thing is those who were really high earners at Celtic could have a problem as the club wants to cut the wage bill a little. They have made it clear that these guys should be open to salary cuts or consider other options. But the club also cannot afford to cut their contracts as they would have to compensate them by paying their salaries for the remainder of the contract term.

“The other option is to sell them but there have not been any offers as yet. Those that have offers would have to be released because the clubs that want them cannot afford to buy them.

“We are hoping that the issue is put to rest soon because they have to know whether or not they are staying with the club,” said the source.

Meanwhile, Royal AM players have more reasons to make sure they win every game they play, after club boss Shauwn Mkhize promised them huge bonuses for every victory, according to a source at the club.

“Everyone wasn’t sure how things are going to be in KZN, but so far everything seems to be good. The guys have settled very well and they are happy with the treatment they are getting. But, one thing for sure is that there is disappointment with what happened to Celtic.

“The first game wasn’t that bad, even though it was a loss. After the game the boss promised the players bonuses for every game they win. She also thanked the guys for showing commitment and giving their all in the first match,” said a source.
