It’s safe to say that Johnson’s appointment caught many by surprise.

Just when fans were eagerly awaiting news about last-minute player transfers as the PSL transfer window was closing on Friday, Chiefs dropped this coaching bombshell.

While fans were itching to hear about new signings for their teams, Chiefs decided to bring in Johnson, a seasoned coach, to oversee their academy.

Johnson has had coaching stints with various teams in South Africa, including Platinum Stars, SuperSport United, Black Leopards, and AmaZulu FC.

He even had a spell at Al-Ahly in Egypt as Pitso Mosimane’s assistant before returning to South Africa a few years ago.

With Molefi Ntseki struggling to get the team into a winning groove, there’s chatter that if things don’t improve soon, Johnson might be the man to take over the reins. It’s a classic case of “out with the old, in with the new” brewing in the Chiefs camp.
