NFD wrap: Ajax edge closer to Premiership return

The Urban Warriors beat Witbank Spurs 5-0 at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, as they look for a quick return to top flight football after they were relegated last season. Andreas Ulderlink’s side were on fire with Thabo Mosadi and Thendo Mekumela both scoring twice and Masilakhe Phohlongo also added his name to the score sheet.

Maccabi FC and Royal Eagles played to a draw after Eagles man Sipho Sibiya cancelled out Levy Mashiane’s opening goal for Maccabi. The point was more appreciated by Maccabi who are flirting with relegation.

Tshakhuma 3 (P. Bhengu x3) Ubuntu CT (C. Chweu)

Hat-trick hero Phumelele Bhengu scored one goal for each point TTM collected at Thogoyandou stadium against Ubuntu Cape Town. Cameron Chweu scored a consolation goal for the visitors.

Mbombela and Uthongathi shared the spoils on at the KaNyamazane Stadium on Saturday. Lucky Nguzana scored for the home side and Francis Baloyi denied them the full points.

In another stalemate encounter, Iqraam Rayners’ goal was cancelled by Ezenkosi’s Inky Masuku. The draw stalled Stellies run and they are now just four points ahead with Ajax Cape Town hot on their tail.

Real Kings celebrated their third unbeaten match with two goals from Siphiwe Mbatha and Xolani Zondi. The three points moved them out of the relegation places for the first time this season.

University of Pretoria 0 TS Galaxy 2 (S. Mdlinzo, Z. Abrahams)

With goals from Sizwe Mdlinzo and Zairon Abrahams in the second half to secure three points for the visitors who are six point from a top three finish. AmaTuks have now conceded seven goals in two matches.

Cape Umoya 1 (M. Nkewana) TS Sporting 2 (P. Nkabinde, M. Noko)

TS Sporting got their first away win in the Western Cape against Cape Umoya United. Goals came from Masixole Nkewana before Percyvell Nkabinde levelled matters. Malekana Noko got the winning goal for the visitors.
