Sundowns and Chiefs weekend clash sold out

Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs will square off in a sold-out Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Sundowns spokesperson Alex Shakoane confirmed that the fixture between the two PSL giants was sold out.

Shakoane also revealed that security at the stadium had been beefed up for Sunday afternoon’s clash. Supporters invaded the field in a game between Sundowns and Orlando Pirates two seasons ago, but Shakoane is confident the stadium has done enough to prevent fans interrupting the match.

“For the past three weeks we have been working with the SAPS‚ City of Tshwane‚ private security‚ Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the dog unit of SAPS‚” Shakoane was quoted by Sowetan.

“We have met on three occasions‚ and did the walkabout of the stadium and surrounding area to make sure that we identify all the crime hotspots.

“We will be having 630 private security‚ made up from three companies. One [company] will be deployed at the gates‚ the other will deal with the outer perimeter of the stadium and the third will take care of the inner perimeter of the stadium.”
