The kykNET Silwerskerm Awards for Film and TV continue to go from strength to strength. This year’s television nominees for the prestigious awards, spanning a wide range of genres and formats, once again reflect the exceptional talent and creativity that is thriving in the Afrikaans entertainment landscape.

The awards ceremony, which honours the best feature films and performances from the festival alongside outstanding television achievements, will take place on Saturday, 23 August, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

kykNET Silwerskermfees: Focus on local interest and talent

Since its launch in 2010, the Silwerskermfees has grown into one of our country’s most respected film festivals with a unique focus on local interest and talent.

The first festival, hosted in the Karoo town of Prince Albert, featured only one film with the apt title, ’n Saak van geloof [A Question of Faith]. 

2025 Silwerskerm Awards: The blue carpet awaits…

At this year’s glitzy edition of the Silwerskerm awards ceremony, the iconic blue carpet will be rolled out for the country’s biggest stars, with top musicians providing entertainment.

The event will be hosted by Armand Aucamp and Rozanne McKenzie, with performances by Early B, Janie Bay and Elandré.

The awards ceremony will be broadcast on Sunday, 24 August, at 7pm on kykNET (DStv channel 144).

“While South Africa’s finest actors could excel on any global stage, international actors would not be able to achieve what South African talent delivers on a daily basis,” said Waldimar Pelser, director of M-Net’s Premium Channels.
