Popular Gospel singer Thinah Zungu now a pastor

The musician said he never knew he would be a pastor one day.

South African musician Thinah Zungu has hung up his singing microphone and exchanged his music career to minister through his church, the Ark Fellowship Church in Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal.

The singer, who has officially been ordained as a pastor, told Zimoja that he was preaching through music, but now he will be preaching and leading the people of God that he’s called for.

The Gospel singer said he never knew he would be a pastor one day, and that he thought his calling would only end in music, which is why his music is full of preaching.

He added that while he will only preach at the church he is leading, but whenever he goes out he will still be travelling through music.

“I don’t want to confuse the two because there are a lot of people that also find comfort in my music.”

Zunga said he had to make some life changes since being ordained as a pastor to create more balance between his career, the work of God and his family.

Zungu released a new EP in March containing three new songs.

Thinah Zungu’s family

Zungu spent his early years soaking up the Christ-centered values of his devout parents before he embraced his career as a singer. His father was a pastor in the Zion Church. His wife, Zama Zungu is a priestess.

“I was preaching through music, now I’ll be preaching and leading the people of God that I’m called for. I believe that I was ordained the day I was born,” he told Zimoja.
